On my Birthday – 3rd June
I’ve been tagged on this by the adorable, delightfully and divine Spencer at SAHD and Proud. His birthday is August 22 & will be 39+1 this year.. read about it here (his blog is one of my favourites, his writing so honest and witty and so much more than mine)
The idea has come from Kate at The Five Fs Blog who is collecting birthdate information for all 366 days of the year.
The one thing I was told about my birthday was that it was snowing in Hull on the day and considering the month I was born it, that always amused me, I am yet to find out if it is true, but hey, it’s a nice story… so here goes:
When is your birthday?
I was born on 03 June 1975. I was due in May, but there is a recording of my father in early May saying that I would be born on 03 June. Now I was born by C-section but very late, it was weird that he knew.. I have the recording somewhere, that he gave me whilst I was pregnant with my first son. Makes me cry every time I listen to it.
Pick three people who share your birthday and share what you know about them.
OK there are a few people born on the 3rd June and I found these ones at Who2 Biographies
I kind of wish it had been two days earlier cos then I could have included Marilyn Monroe who was born on the 1st June – I’ve always liked her, however, her co-star from Some Like it Hot (My Dad’s favourite film, just for added info) Tony Curtis was born on 03rd June 1925. Wasn’t he dashing back in the day…

Who else? Well apparently Fidel Castro’s brother Raul Castro was born on 3rd June 1931. He has replaced his brother, as president of Cuba in 2008. Raul Castro helped his brother plan and execute the socialist revolution which overthrew the dictator Fulgencio Batista in the 1950s. (Raul also introduced Fidel to the quite delicious Che Guevara, who also was to become a famous revolutionary.)

The last person I chose was Allen Ginsberg, born 3rd June 1926 probably because of his friendship with Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs, two writers of whose words I inhaled as if air, gulping as if I needed them to survive, as teenager. I do remember reading his most famous poem Howl a long time ago, it begins with the words, “I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix…”

Is anyone listed as being born on the same day as you (ie the same year). If so, what do you know about them?
Yes apparently three people, Erick Erickson, a Political Conservative American Blogger (Who, in my humble opinion, looks ten years older than me, eek!); Jason MacDonald, a Canadian Mixed Martial Artist, and Jose Molina a Major League Baseball Catcher with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Other than that, I have no clue about any of them (thank you Wikipedia)

Tell us about a holiday that falls on your birthday.
Dear sweet Wikipedia… apparently there are a plethora of holidays on my birthday, but one of those, celebrated in Taiwan is Opium Suppression Movement Day because in 1839 in Humen, China, Lin Tse-hsü destroys 1.2 million kg of opium confiscated from British merchants, providing Britain with a casus belli to open hostilities, resulting in the First Opium War.
